Merengue is a high-bulk book paper that combines thickness, lightness, and moderate firmness, while also offering a high degree of whiteness. High-bulk book papers were developed in response to the publishing industry’s needs, such as “making books lighter for easier portability” and “providing sufficient stiffness and thickness for easy page-turning.” Its softly textured surface feels pleasant to the touch, and the paper firmly holds ink.
