About the exhibition:

Journey to the heart of Antarctica at the National Museum this winter
This stunning new exhibition tells the extraordinary first-hand stories of more than 100 years of Australians in Antarctica from early explorers to recent expeditioners at research stations including Mawson and Macquarie Island.

See rare objects from one of the worlds largest Antarctic collections, on public display for the first time since their acquisition from the Australian Antarctic Division.

Meet amazing animals from penguins to sled dogs and discover vehicles and scientific instruments modified to withstand extreme conditions.

Witness the beauty of the aurora australis, feel the force of a blizzard and track the midnight sun as we immerse you in a polar landscape and challenge you to stay in touch with family and friends in our code game!

Leave with a new understanding of how Antarctica continues to capture the imaginations of Australians and why caring for it matters to us all.
